Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A flaw exists in the adm1266 nvmem read blackbox() function within the hwmon (pmbus/adm1266) module. The function processes a record count value obtained from the BLACKBOX INFO response without sufficient validation. If a device reports a record count exceeding 32—potentially due to firmware bugs, bus corruption, or a non-responsive slave returning 0xff—the system may read the read buff beyond the allocated boundaries of the dev mem buffer, which is sized for 2048 bytes.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
