VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the bcmgenet network driver where setting RBUF EEE EN and RBUF PM EN in the RBUF ENERGY CTRL register disrupts the receive (RX) path on GENET hardware when MAC Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) becomes active. This causes RX traffic to stop flowing even while the link remains active, as the MAC accepts frames but the RBUF fails to forward them to DMA. In certain scenarios, this can lead to a paging fault in skb release data via bcmgenet rx poll during an LPI (Low Power Idle) exit. This behavior is observed when EEE is enabled by default or manually activated via ethtool.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
