Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Directory Server (389-ds-base) (affected versions not specified)
Description
A heap-buffer-overflow flaw occurs when a Distinguished Name (DN) contains a legacy-quoted value. The server fails to close the heap allocation, which allows a subsequent call to reference the same memory pointer. This can lead to a denial of service or an arbitrary memory write operation. A heap-buffer-overflow is a condition where a program writes more data to a heap-allocated memory buffer than it can hold, potentially corrupting adjacent memory.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
