An authenticated user with permissions to execute aggregation pipelines can cause a MongoDB server (mongod) to crash. This occurs when the
$ internalIndexKey aggregation expression is used with compound wildcard index specifications, which triggers an internal consistency check that aborts the server process.Recommendations
