Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
Certain platform drivers handling core ACPI devices fail to verify the presence of a device's ACPI companion object during the probe process. Because
device match driver override() can force a platform driver to match a device that does not match its list of device IDs, drivers relying on the ACPI companion object must check for its existence. This issue involves the need for ACPI COMPANION() or ACPI HANDLE() checks against NULL to prevent potential failures.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
