Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the drivers/base/memory component where mem->altmap is set before device registration is fully completed. If the add memory block() function fails during the xa store() process, such as during periods of memory pressure, the system calls device unregister(). This sequence triggers memory block release() while mem->altmap is still active, resulting in a WARN ON(mem->altmap) condition. This behavior was observed when modifying the virtio-mem driver.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
