Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
Inode ownership checks used for side-channel protection in the
mincore() and madvise(MADV PAGEOUT) functions were incorrectly performed against the nop mnt idmap, which ignores the idmap of the file's mount. This can lead to situations where the owner or capable() check fails even when a user should have ownership after idmap translation. To resolve this, the file owner or capable() function was introduced to ensure correct semantics for ownership checks.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
