Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 7.1.1
Description
A memory leak exists in the XFS file system within the
xfs dqinode metadir create() function. When xfs metadir create() fails, the system returns directly, which causes the allocated update and transaction state to leak. Additionally, if a subsequent commit fails, the inode reference owned by the caller is not released. This issue can lead to the system becoming stuck during mount setup when using user quotas.Recommendations
Update the Linux kernel to a version newer than 7.1.1.
