Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The ice1712 driver in the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) fails to verify the return value of the
snd ctl new1() function. When memory allocation fails, snd ctl new1() returns NULL; however, the driver dereferences this pointer in the files ice1712.c, ice1724.c, and aureon.c, which can result in a NULL pointer dereference. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when a program attempts to read or write to a memory address that is NULL, typically leading to a system crash.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
