Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the x86 architecture implementation where hardening against JIT spraying is required when Spectre-v2 mitigations are active. JIT spraying is a technique used to bypass security protections by injecting malicious executable code into memory via a Just-In-Time (JIT) compiler. The flaw is addressed by issuing an IBPB (Indirect Branch Predictor Barrier) flush during BPF JIT memory reuse, provided the BPF dispatcher is not already utilizing a retpoline sequence. This protection is specifically applicable when
CONFIG BPF JIT is enabled.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
