Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions SSSD (affected versions not specified)
Description A flaw exists in the PAM responder where the extract authtok v1() function fails to validate the auth token length field against the remaining buffer size before processing. A local attacker can exploit this by sending a crafted protocol v1 request to the PAM responder socket, leading to an out-of-bounds read—a condition where the system reads data beyond the intended boundary of a buffer—and a process crash, resulting in a denial of service.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
