Description An issue exists in the amdgpu hmm invalidate gfx() function within the drm/amdgpu component. During the allocation or freeing process, a userptr BO (Buffer Object) may temporarily not be part of its VM, causing the bo->vm bo variable to be NULL. This is addressed by maintaining a reference to the VM root PD (Page Directory) as the parent of the userptr BO to ensure the system can wait for all VM submissions rather than only those involving the specific userptr BO.
