Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A TX hang can occur during packet transmission due to how the hardware parses protocol headers. The hardware parser expects additional data when processing incomplete IPv4, IPv6, TCP, or UDP headers. Specifically, for UDP packets identified by destination ports 319/320, the hardware performs PTP (Precision Time Protocol) parsing. If the transport data of such a packet is smaller than
RTASE MIN PAD LEN, the parser may trigger a TX hang while waiting for missing data. Additionally, for IPv4 non-initial fragments, the hardware may attempt to parse a transport header even if one is not present because it fails to check the fragment offset.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
