Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the handling of device-private Page Middle Directory (PMD) entries within the reverse mapping (rmap) walk code. When the function page vma mapped walk() encounters device-private PMD entries, it fails to perform necessary actions, only acquiring the PMD lock before exiting. This leads to two primary problems: the check pmd() function is not called to verify overlapping Page Frame Number (PFN) ranges, and if the PVMW MIGRATION flag is set, the system incorrectly interprets the device-private entry as a migration entry, resulting in memory corruption. Additionally, a race condition can occur during PMD splitting for device-private Transparent Huge Pages (THP) before the PMD lock is acquired.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
