Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the
nsm dev ioctl() function where the system jumps to a common output label even if the initial copy from user() function fails before the nsm->lock mutex is acquired. This causes the error path to attempt to unlock a mutex that was never locked, leading to a bad unlock balance. This can be triggered by issuing NSM IOCTL RAW with an invalid user pointer.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
