Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A general protection fault occurs in the comedi get is subdevice running() function, which is called by the parport interrupt() interrupt handler within the comedi parport driver. This issue is caused by premature interrupts, which may happen if the interrupt handler is established before comedi subdevices are allocated without first disabling the interrupt in the parallel port's CTRL register, or if a user-supplied I/O port base address is not backed by actual hardware.
Recommendations Update the Linux kernel to a version where the parport attach() handler initializes hardware registers before requesting the interrupt handler and includes a check to ensure the comedi device is fully attached within the interrupt handler.
