Description An issue exists in the CIFS (Common Internet File System) component where a memory leak occurs during deferred close drain paths. When a pending deferred close is cancelled using cancel delayed work(), a subsequent kmalloc obj() call to add the file to the local processing list may fail under memory pressure. This causes the loop to break without adding the cfile to file head for processing, leading to a leak of the cifsFileInfo reference and the open server handle. This occurs within the cifs close deferred file(), cifs close all deferred files(), and cifs close deferred file under dentry() functions.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
