VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions PostgreSQL versions prior to 18.5 PostgreSQL versions prior to 17.11 PostgreSQL versions prior to 16.15 PostgreSQL versions prior to 15.19 PostgreSQL versions prior to 14.24
Description Type confusion involving the internal data type arguments allows any user to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the operating system user running the database. This occurs through calls to functions that utilize the internal argument type, which represents a class of mutually-incompatible data structures not intended for access via SQL. Although the system was designed to prevent such function calls, gaps in this prevention mechanism enable the issue.
Recommendations Update to version 18.5 or later. Update to version 17.11 or later. Update to version 16.15 or later. Update to version 15.19 or later. Update to version 14.24 or later.
