Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A NULL pointer dereference in the
ocfs2 assure trans credits() function can cause a kernel panic. This occurs during Direct I/O (DIO) completion when a direct write over unwritten extents triggers a journal abort, such as after an I/O error. In this scenario, the ocfs2 dio end io write() function continues to use a journal handle whose transaction pointer has been cleared. Because ocfs2 assure trans credits() attempts to read the remaining credits of the handle without verifying if the handle has been aborted, it dereferences the NULL pointer, resulting in a general protection fault.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
