Description A memory leak occurs in the Linux kernel when a commit operation fails within the DAMON (Data Access Monitoring) core. The damon commit target() function manages source and destination target pids by performing put and get operations. If a commit operation fails—potentially due to memory allocation issues when handling a large number of target regions—and the destination context lacks a cleanup target() callback, the source target pids are not properly released. This results in pids being leaked because the damon destroy ctx() function cannot perform the necessary cleanup for the destination context.
