Description An ABBA deadlock occurs in the NTFS driver during rename operations. The functions ntfs file fsync(), ntfs dir fsync(), and ntfs write inode() lock an inode's mrec lock before locking the mrec lock of its parent directory. Conversely, ntfs rename() locks old ni->mrec lock and old dir ni->mrec lock before locking new ni->mrec lock for existing targets or new dir ni->mrec lock for cross-directory renames. A deadlock happens when ntfs file fsync() or ntfs write inode() holds the target inode, or ntfs dir fsync() holds a child target directory, while ntfs rename() holds the parent directory and waits for the target.
