Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An integer underflow exists in the
jbd2 journal initialize fast commit() function. The issue occurs during journal capacity validation when calculating the difference between j last and num fc blks. Because both variables are unsigned, if num fc blks exceeds j last, the subtraction wraps to a large value, allowing the bounds check to be bypassed. This underflow corrupts the j last, j fc first, and j free variables, which results in a journal abort.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
