Description An issue exists in the s390 memory management where the PAGE UNUSED softbit is not consistently cleared when new page table entries (ptes) are set. This bit is used to signal try to unmap one() and try to migrate one() that a page can be discarded. Because some paths failed to clear this bit, active pages could be incorrectly discarded, leading to guest corruption. The issue involves the set pte() function and the gmap helper try set pte unused() function, where the PAGE UNUSED bit was being incorrectly handled for present and non-present ptes.

Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
