Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the ext2 file system where the ext2 dio write iter() function fails to propagate the error returned by the generic write sync() function. This failure to handle the return value can lead to the write(2) system call incorrectly returning success to userspace for files opened with O SYNC or O DSYNC flags, even if the synchronization process actually failed.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
