Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Libevent versions prior to 2.1.13 Libevent versions prior to 2.2.2-alpha
Description An out-of-bounds read can occur in the event tagging.c file when the decode tag internal() function requests a maximum of five bytes from evbuffer pullup but continues to iterate using the full logical buffer length. This allows a fragmented evbuffer containing a six-byte malformed tag to advance beyond the pullup window, potentially crashing processes that decode attacker-controlled tagged RPC data.
Recommendations Update to version 2.1.13. Update to version 2.2.2-alpha.
