Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Capstone versions prior to 6.0.0-Alpha10
Description
SH floating-point decoders, including
opFADD(), opFMUL(), and opFSUB(), call set reg() and set reg n() using sh info.op.op count without verifying the fixed-size operands[] array. When processing repeated crafted instructions via cs disasm iter() or cs disasm() using CS ARCH SH, CS MODE SH2A or CS MODE SH4A, CS MODE SHFPU, and CS OPT DETAIL, the operand count can exceed the 176-byte sh info allocation. This results in a four-byte heap buffer overflow write, which can cause the process to crash or potentially allow arbitrary code execution depending on the heap layout.Recommendations
Update to version 6.0.0-Alpha10.
