Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the user page-table accounting paths where
page table check set() and page table check clear() functions incorrectly account shared zero-page PTEs and huge zero PMDs as file-backed pages. An unprivileged process can exploit this by populating sufficient zero mappings to cause an overflow of the file map count variable, triggering a BUG ON() kernel panic.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
