Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the rtl8723bs staging driver where the rtw cfg80211 monitor if xmit entry() function removes the radiotap header and reads the 802.11 frame control field without verifying if a base 802.11 header remains. Additionally, the data path processes the calculated 802.11, QoS, and SNAP header span before confirming the socket buffer (skb) contains it. This can lead to out-of-bounds reads or insufficient data for Ethernet address writes when processing truncated frames.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
