Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the network scheduler where overly deep qdisc (queueing discipline) hierarchies can cause excessive recursion in qdisc tree walkers. This recursion can lead to the exhaustion of the kernel stack. The problem occurs because the existing loop check does not cover the create-and-graft path, allowing a hierarchy to be extended by creating a new child qdisc beneath a parent that has already reached a significant depth.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
