Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The hp-bioscfg driver attempts to register kobjects with empty names when the HP BIOS returns attributes with empty name strings, resulting in kernel warnings. Specifically, the driver does not validate attribute names after parsing them from the WMI buffer. If an empty name is detected, the driver now logs a debug message and skips registration of the attribute, allowing processing of other valid attributes to continue.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
