Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the ZBB-optimized strnlen() function within the RISC-V architecture implementation. The loop loads a word ahead of the aligned boundary before performing the boundary check. If the sum of the starting address and the count falls exactly on a page boundary and the subsequent page is unmapped, the system may trigger a fault. This occurs because the loop potentially reads memory past the specified count boundary.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
