Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An out-of-bounds check exists in the
ccwchain calc length() function. This routine counts the number of channel command words (CCWs) chained together in a single channel program and is intended to reject any sequence larger than 256 CCWs. However, the loop logic allows the system to examine a potential 257th CCW before terminating and returning an error, which leads to memory access outside the intended range.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
