Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A heap buffer overflow can occur in the synaptics-rmi4 driver when the diagnostic report type is changed while streaming. Because V4L2 buffers are allocated based on the size at the start of the stream, changing the input mid-stream to a larger size can exceed the allocated buffer capacity. This is triggered via the VIDIOC S INPUT operation.
Recommendations Restrict the use of the VIDIOC S INPUT operation while the V4L2 queue is busy to prevent the buffer overflow.
