Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
openssl-encrypt versions prior to 1.4.9
Description
The software incorrectly identifies a portable USB workspace as an Encrypted USB Workspace using AES-256-GCM encryption. Although a marker is written to declare the workspace as encrypted, the directory is stored in cleartext because the derived encryption key is not applied. This allows an attacker with physical access to the removable media to read sensitive files that the user believed were protected.
Recommendations
Update to version 1.4.9.
