Description A flaw exists in the OCFS2 file system where a corrupted journal dinode in a fuzzed OCFS2 image can cause a kernel crash during the mount process. The issue occurs because the function ocfs2 journal toggle dirty() uses a BUG ON() check when it encounters an invalid journal dinode, assuming the dinode had already been validated. This causes the kernel to panic during mount teardown instead of returning a standard mount failure. The crash is triggered when the ocfs2 journal shutdown() function is called during the mount path.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
