Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
submariner (affected versions not specified)
Description
In cert-auth mode, the software builds connection configurations using free-form strings from the Custom Resource Definition (CRD) without proper validation. A malicious cluster can exploit this by publishing a
CableName containing newlines and ipsec.conf directives. This allows an attacker to inject arbitrary configuration parameters or execute commands through leftupdown hooks, resulting in remote code execution as root on the gateway node.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
