Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Tornado versions prior to 6.5.8
Description A memory amplification issue exists in the parse multipart form data() function within httputil.py. The software performs a split operation on multipart data using the data.split() method before validating the max parts limit. An attacker can send a crafted HTTP request containing a large number of parts, which forces the server to create a massive transient list in memory. This process can exhaust server resources and lead to a denial of service. This issue can be exploited by unauthenticated users.
Recommendations Update to version 6.5.8 or later.
