Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the DAMON (Data Access Monitoring) component where the
kdamond merge regions() function can enter an infinite internal loop. This occurs when the number of DAMON regions exceeds the user-set upper limit and the max thres variable is larger than UINT MAX / 2. In such cases, doubling the merge threshold can cause an integer overflow, bypassing the loop break condition. This scenario typically requires an unrealistic configuration of non-contiguous regions and extremely large aggregation intervals compared to the sampling interval.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
