Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the
drm pagemap migrate populate ram pfn() function when populating RAM PFNs with higher-order folios. The problem consists of two main parts: first, higher-order vma alloc folio() and folio alloc() calls lacked the GFP NOWARN flag, causing kernel log spam during THP (Transparent Huge Page) allocation failures under memory pressure, and lacked a proper fallback path. Second, in the free pages error path, the folio order(page folio(page)) function was called after put page(page) had already dropped the reference, leading to a use-after-free or use-after-put condition if it was the final reference on the page.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
