Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the drm/amdgpu component where the MES scheduler ring is skipped by the force-completion loop in the amdgpu device pre asic reset() function because it lacks a drm scheduler. The system uses a polling fence with a hardware value in wb (GTT) memory that persists through a MODE1 reset, while the fence drv.sync seq continues to advance for every packet. If a reset occurs because the MES stops responding, timed-out packets can push the sync seq beyond the last hardware fence value written by the MES. Consequently, the first MES submission after resume polls indefinitely for a sequence that is never written, leading to a failed resume and a system hang during a subsequent reset.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
