Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the f2fs file system within the redirty blocks() function. The function pins folios using read cache folio() and subsequently iterates through the range using filemap lock folio() to redirty them and release references. Due to a do/while loop implementation, if read cache folio() fails before any pinning occurs, the cleanup loop may still execute once without advancing the page idx. If the page cache was already populated by readahead for that failed folio, the folio put refs(folio, 2) function may drop an excessive number of references, potentially leading to a "BUG: Bad page state" error during cache dropping or memory reclaim operations.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
