Description An out-of-bounds read exists in the s2255 probe() function. The function attempts to read a 4-byte marker and version from the final 8 bytes of the firmware blob using fw->data[fw size - 8] and fw->data[fw size - 4]. If the firmware file size is less than 8 bytes, the calculation fw size - 8 results in an integer underflow, leading to memory access outside the intended buffer boundaries.

Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
