Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the LoongArch BPF implementation where the jump offset calculation for tail calls uses a macro-based approach. This method derives jump distance from a stale prior-pass code stride, which can result in incorrect branch offsets and cause soft lockups during additional Just-In-Time (JIT) compilation passes. JIT is a method of improving performance by compiling code during execution rather than before. The fix involves calculating the offset directly using the absolute target via the expression ctx->offset[insn + 1] - ctx->idx and implementing a ctx->image == NULL guard to prevent false 16-bit range check aborts during size estimation.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
