Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue exists in the KVM nVMX component where vpid02 is not consistently flushed upon first use. This occurs because last vpid is not reset when vpid02 is freed during a VMXOFF operation. Consequently, if a sequence of VMXOFF followed by VMXON occurs and KVM reuses a VPID that still has Translation Lookaside Buffer (TLB) entries on the physical CPU, the system may use stale TLB entries. These entries could have been associated with a different vCPU or a different virtual machine. The nested vmx transition tlb flush() function is responsible for detecting VPID changes during the first VM-Enter after VMXON.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
