Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A race condition exists in the ALSA PCM component between non-atomic operations and the trigger-start operation. While concurrent state transitions between atomic PCM operations are protected, checks between non-atomic operations—specifically hw params, hw free, and prepare—and atomic operations are insufficient. This allows atomic PCM operations to be issued during non-atomic PCM operations. For instance, one thread may re-issue PREPARE or HW PARAMS for a prepared stream while another thread triggers the PCM start during the prepare operation, leading to system inconsistencies.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
