Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the
cpuinfo store cpu() function where the system reads the GMID EL1 register even when Memory Tagging Extension (MTE) is disabled via CONFIG ARM64 MTE=n or the arm64.nomte parameter. In pKVM environments, this occurs after a CPU is offlined and brought back online, leading to an undefined instruction (UNDEF) that the host cannot handle, resulting in a kernel panic.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
