Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the Linux kernel where kernel addresses can be leaked through the Last Branch Record (LBR) stack on Intel x86 systems. This occurs because the
intel pmu lbr filter() function fails to fully validate the privilege level of sampled entries, specifically neglecting to reject entries where the from address violates the requested branch privilege filter. Consequently, kernel branch records may be exposed to user space even when PERF SAMPLE BRANCH USER is requested.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
