Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the
validate hash algo() function where the return value of dentry path() is not properly validated. When a path exceeds the buffer, dentry path() returns an ERR PTR (specifically -ENAMETOOLONG). Because validate hash algo() passes this result directly to integrity audit msg() without checking, the system treats the error pointer as a valid memory address. This leads to a page fault and system crash when strlen() is called on the invalid pointer within integrity audit message().Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
