Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A use-after-free issue exists in the
samples/damon/mtier component. The function damon sample mtier stop() incorrectly assumes that a call to damon stop() will always successfully stop both DAMON contexts. If a context is already stopped—which can occur due to memory allocation failures in kdamond fn()—the damon stop() function returns an error, leaving other contexts running. Because the system proceeds to deallocate the DAMON contexts, including linked damon target and damon region objects, the remaining active DAMON context (kdamond) attempts to access memory that has already been freed.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
