Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A buffer overflow exists in the dm-integrity component. The
integrity metadata function computes a checksum for every discarded block into the checksums buffer. Because the integrity sector checksum() function always writes the full digest, a write past the end of the buffer occurs if the tag size is smaller than the digest size. For instance, using hmac(sha256) with a tag size of 16 during a 4MiB discard results in 16 bytes being written beyond the allocated kmalloc page.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
